ILIGAN CITY — The police and the Philippine  Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in this city seized about 1.3 kilos of suspected meth worth P8.8 million in a joint operation on Wednesday evening in Barangay Tibanga.

“This is the biggest volume of shabu in a raid this year,” said Major Zandrex Panolong, Iligan City Police Office (ICPO) spokesperson.

The 36-year-old suspect is listed as one of PDEA’s high-value targets in northern Mindanao, Panolong added.

Panolong said the authorities were at first serving an arrest warrant against the suspect for frustrated murder.

“However, when he went to his room to evade authorities, the raiding team that followed him noticed a package and found that it contained shabu,” Panolong said.

The suspect is detained at Police Station 5 while charges are being prepared.

Colonel Reinante  Delos Santos, ICPO director, said they were tightening their watch over the city’s peace and security situation leading up to the month-long celebration of Diyandi Festival in September.
