'High-value' trafficker yields shabu worth P816,000 in Lucena bust

LUCENA CITY — Police seized on Wednesday P816,000 worth of shabu (crystal meth) from an alleged “high value” trafficker in this capital city of Quezon province.

Colonel Ledon Monte, Quezon police chief, reported that members of the provincial drug enforcement unit arrested at 10:55 p.m. “Edwardo,” 36, after he sold shabu worth P1,000 to an undercover policeman in Barangay Dalahican.

The police confiscated two plastic sachets and two plastic bags containing shabu weighing 40 grams with an estimated Dangerous Drugs Board value of P272,000 from the suspect.

The seized meth is worth P816,000 in the street market at the prevailing price of P20,400 per gram, the report said.

Quezon police are investigating the source of shabu peddled by the suspect, an identified high-value individual in the local drug trade.

The suspect was detained and is facing complaints for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
