MANILA, Philippines — La Mesa Dam’s water level has reached spilling level because of the continuous rains triggered by the southwest monsoon or “habagat,” according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
As of 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, the water level was measured at 80.16 meters, which exceeded the spilling level of 80.15 meters, the state weather bureau reported.
“Water from La Mesa Dam is expected to affect the low-lying areas along the Tullahan River from Quezon City (Fairview, Forest Hill Subd., Quirino Highway, Sta. Quiteria, and San Bartolome), Valenzuela (Brgy. Ligon, North Expressway, La Huerta Subd.) and Malabon,” Pagasa said in a Facebook post.
Pagasa advised those living in the mentioned areas to watch out for rising water levels at Tullahan River.
In an early morning advisory, the weather bureau said that “habagat” will trigger rains in Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, and the Visayas.
