Rainy Wednesday due to ‘habagat’ expected in Luzon, Visayas

MANILA, Philippines – A rainy Wednesday due to the southwest monsoon, or “habagat,” is expected in Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Southern Luzon and the Visayas, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

In an early morning advisory, Pagasa weather specialist Obet Badrina said that Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, and Antique would experience occasional rains triggered by the “habagat.”

The same weather system will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms to  La Union, Pangasinan, Benguet, Bicol region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan)  and the rest of the Visayas, he added.

The rest of the country will have slightly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.

Badrina also pointed out that there is currently no low-pressure area that may affect the country’s weather.

“Towards the weekend, ine-expect naman natin itong mga pag-ulan dulot ng habagat ay mababawasan. Pagdating ng weekend malaking bahagi ng ating bansa ay makararanas ng generally fair weather,” he said.
