Lapu-lapu  gun Grappling

Three men, including a policeman, were hospitalized  for gunshot wounds following a vehicle collision in barangay Maribago, Lapu-Lapu City.

Two brothers whose motorcycle collided with the motorbike of P01 Sterl Jason Inot ended up grappling for his gun following a confrontation between them.

Brothers Benjamin and Jesus Orbeso of  barangay Pajac were  rushed to the Mactan Doctors’ Hospital for gunshot wounds.

Inot, 25, was later transferred to another hospital.  Police said Benjamin punched the policeman in the face.

Inot, who held  his pistol,  identified himself as a policeman but  Benjamin didn’t believe him.

The two each tried to grab the gun when the weapon went off.   Both brothers were  shot in the commotion.

The gun went off again, this time hitting Inot.

Lapu stabbing

A 30-year-old food vendor was arrested after he allegedly stabbed dead a man  he argued with yesterday dawn in barangay Babag, Lapu-Lapu City.

Police said Trenio Remulta had a grudge  against the victim Martin Berame, who had caused trouble in his food stand several times.

The two had a heated argument about 2 a.m. before Berame was stabbed.

The vendor was later arrested in a  relative’s house./CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA

Dead man in consolacion

A dead man was found hogtied in barangay Nangka, Consolacion town, northern Cebu, on Sunday.

Police are trying to identify the victim who was of medium build, in  his 30s stood five foot tall, with  long  curly hair. He had a tattoo on his left hand.

The man  had gunshot wounds in his face.

Residents told police  they heard two bursts of gunfire past 7 p.m.  The victim’s body was brought to the Pampangueña Funeral Homes in Liloan town  for autopsy./  correspondent norman mendoza

K9s at pro-7

AT least five K9 dogs arrived at Police Regional Office (PRO-7) yesterday for the  Central Visayas anti-terrorism campaign, a nationwide program of the Philippine National Police.

Police said the Belgian Mallinois breed worth P500,000 each underwent a six-month training in Tagaytay City.

Police said five officers will handle the dogs, which will be prepped for a K9 unit. They said they no longer have to rent K9 units from security agencies for big events./correspondents chito aragon, gabriel bonjoc

Camputhaw burglary

Two men were arrested in connection with the theft of  P1 million worth of jewelry and electronic devices from two houses in purok 8, barangay Camputhaw, Cebu City.

Residents Alex Repollo, 34, and Dave Gabato,21, are now detained at the Camputhaw police station.  The two suspects  denied any hand in the burglary.

House owners  Vivia Alegrabis, 58, and Carla Go Sypleco, 26  said they discovered that their houses were ransacked last Saturday night.

Alegrabis lost her DSLR camera worth P50,000, P185,000 worth of jewelry, an Oscar Emil wristwatch  and P100,000 cash.
