PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) seized some half a kilo of illegal drugs and arrested two suspected dealers in a buy-bust operation Sunday in Lumbog village, Margosatubig town, Zamboanga del Sur.

PDEA-9 regional director Maharani Gadaoni-Tosoc said the suspected meth, with an estimated market value of P3.4-M, was placed inside five knot-tied transparent plastic packs.

The suspects were identified as Marecil Cubio Muloc aka Ating, 42, and Jason Codion Palanas, 20, both of Poblacion village in Margosatubig town.

Both supects will be charged for violation of Section 5, Article II of R.A. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Two weeks ago, another drug buy-bust operation in Poblacion village yielded from two suspects 80 grams of meth contained in eight sachets, estimated to be valued at P544,000.

Tosoc told the Inquirer that they are worried about the drug trading trend in Margosatubig town as it is “emerging as an entry point for illegal drugs.”

“This demands heightened vigilance from both law enforcement and residents. We urge the people of Margosatubig to remain alert and to cooperate fully with authorities by reporting any suspicious activity in their communities,” Tosoc added.
