MANILA, Philippines — A man involved in two violent shooting incidents was arrested in Intramuros, Manila, the police said on Friday.
In a report, the Mandaluyong City Police (MCP) said that the suspect, identified as Jerome Emar Sanchez, was apprehended during a hot pursuit operation on August 22.
Authorities said that Sanchez engaged in a heated confrontation with three individuals on F. Martinez Street, Barangay Addition Hills, Mandaluyong City at around 1:55 a.m. on Tuesday.
The confrontation quickly escalated into a shootout, leaving two of the three persons wounded.
“Following the shootout in Mandaluyong, the suspect fled the scene, sparking an immediate manhunt by the Mandaluyong City Police. The suspect was pursued across multiple locations, with CCTV footage revealing his vehicle speeding towards Manila,” the police said.
The pursuit ended in Intramuros, where another exchange of gunfire occurred, resulting in injuries to both the suspect and a police officer.
Authorities seized a firearm, its ammunition, and an unidentified powder from the suspect’s vehicle after the operation.
The Mandaluyong police said that the gun seized will undergo a ballistic examination.
The suspect was brought to the hospital for immediate medical attention.

Sanchez will face charges for violations of Republic Act (R.A.) 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act of 2012), Section 11 of R.A. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002), direct assault, and three counts of frustrated homicide. — Arianne Denisse Cagsawa, INQUIRER.net intern
