8 injured in C5-Eastwood crash between sand truck and van

MANILA, Philippines — Eight people were injured when a truck loaded with sand and an L300 van crashed in C5-Eastwood, Quezon City on Wednesday morning, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said.

The injured, all passengers of the van, were taken to the Quirino Memorial Medical Center.

The incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. at the northbound intersection of C5- Eastwood.

As of 8 a.m., the MMDA said all lanes in the area were passable and clearing operations were ongoing.

“MMDA enforcers and MPCG [Metro Parkway Clearing Group] on site,” the MMDA said in a Facebook post.

However, the heavy traffic extended to the Aurora-Katipunan Flyover in the southbound direction.

No information was available on the cause of the crash as of this posting.
