MANILA, Philippines — Parts of Batangas and Cavite provinces announced class suspensions or a shift to modular learning on Monday due to volcanic smog from Taal.
According to the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council of Talisay town in Batangas, there is an “increased presence of volcanic smog (vog) in the area.”
“This is due to the ongoing degassing activity of Taal Volcano,” it also said in a Facebook post.
The volcanic smog prompted schools in the following areas to totally suspend classes or at least cancel face-to-face classes for August 19:
Batangas
- Bauan (classes will shift to modular or online distance learning)
- San Pascual (classes will shift to modular or online distance learning)
- Ibaan
- Lobo (classes will shift to modular or online distance learning)
- Padre Garcia
