Lapu gov’t to hold weekly shows, Rampada dances at Liberty Shrine
TOURISTS can enjoy weekly shows for the whole year at the Liberty Shrine in barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City starting last Saturday.
Rampada performances, variety shows, folk dances and modern dances will be the entertainment fare for tourists visiting the Liberty Shrine every Saturday evening.
Rampada is a Brazillian inspired street and stage showdancing of men and women in colorful costumes led by the Rampada Queen. The Rampada performances became the highlight of the Kadaugan street party in Lapu-Lapu City.
The women’s cooperative, “Kababayen-ang Oponganon Nagkahiusa alang sa Kalamboan” will also sell native and shellcraft products during the shows.
Mayor Paz Radaza said the weekly shows would give tourists something to remember about the city and not just its pristine beaches and world-class hotels and resorts.
She said she hoped it would boost the image of the city as a tourism destination.
