MANILA, Philippines – Cloudy skies and rain showers will prevail in many parts of Luzon and Western Visayas on Friday due to the southwest monsoon or “habagat”, according to the state weather bureau.
“Patuloy pa din ang pag-ihip ng habagat o southwest monsoon sa malaking bahagi ng Luzon at Western Visayas, so asahan na po ang pag-ulan partikular dito sa western sections,” said Benison Estareja, weather specialist of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
(The effects of habagat, or southwest monsoon, will continue in most parts of Luzon and Western Visayas, so expect rains, particularly in the western sections of the country.)
Estareja said that in particular, the Ilocos region, Zambales, and Bataan will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.
Isolated rain showers and thunderstorms are also possible in Metro Manila and the rest of the country, he added.
No more LPA threat
Pagasa is also no longer monitoring any weather disturbance in and around the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).
“Wala na po tayong minomonitor na weather disturbance o low pressure area (LPA) sa loob o paligid ng ating Philippine area of responsibility,” Estareja said.
(We are not monitoring any weather disturbance or low-pressure area in and around the Philippine area of responsibility.)
On Thursday, Pagasa was still monitoring the presence of a potential LPA as well as Tropical Storm Maria, which is outside the PAR.
Meanwhile, Pagasa did not raise gale warnings over any of the country’s seaboards.
