Vice mayor, escort, slain in Maguindanao del Sur ambush
COTABATO CITY – The vice mayor of South Upi town in Maguindanao del Sur, including his escort, died on the spot in a gun-attack along Sitio Linao, Bahar village around 5 p.m. on Friday.
Police Lieutenant Amer Hussien Disomangcop, the South Upi police chief, identified the victims as Roldan M. Benito, the vice mayor of said town and his escort Weng Marcos.
Wounded in the ambush are his wife Analyn F. Benito, the chief of Pandan village in the same town, and their two minor kids.

Disomangcop told the Inquirer that Vice Mayor Benito was driving his orange Strada pick-up truck together with his escort, wife and two children while on their way back home in Barangay Pandan, South Upi, when attacked by unidentified gunmen.

“We are still investigating this incident to determine the motive of the crime,” Disomangcop said.
