LEGAZPI CITY — An alleged member of the New People’s Army (NPA) was killed in a clash with the government forces in San Fernando town in Camarines Sur on Friday morning, Aug. 2.

Brigadier General Andre Dizon, Bicol police chief, said in a report that while the members of the Philippine Army and the police were conducting combat strike operations, they figured in a 45-minute firefight with 19 NPA rebels in Barangay Tagpocol at 6:22 a.m.

Dizon said the unidentified slain rebel was a member of Kilusang Larangang Guerilla 1 and Platoon 3 of the Sub-Regional Committee under Nancy Ortega, alias “Lilay.”
