Fair Friday weather with isolated rain showers

MANILA, Philippines – Scattered rain showers are forecast in Western Visayas, Negros Island, Zamboanga Peninsula, Palawan, and Basilan while fair weather with possible rain showers in the afternoon and evening are expected in Metro Manila on Friday.

“Sa kasalukuyan, itong mahinang southwest monsoon o habagat ay naaapektuhan itong kanlurang bahagi ng Visayas at ng Mindanao,” Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa)  weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said in an early morning update.

(Currently, the weak southwest monsoon or habagat is affecting the western part of the Visayas and Mindanao.)

Hence, Pagasa warned of possible flash floods and landslides in rain-affected areas.

In Metro Manila, generally fair weather is expected, with possible isolated rain showers in the afternoon or evening due to localized thunderstorms.

“Bukas patuloy pa rin ang epekto ng mahinang habagat doon pa rin po sa kanlurang bahagi ng Visayas at ng Mindanao, kaya araw ng Sabado, asahan na magiging maganda at maaliwalas ang panahon [sa] buong bansa,” said Aurelio. 

(On Saturday, the effects of the weak southwest monsoon will continue in the western part of the Visayas and Mindanao, so we can still expect clear and generally fair weather nationwide.)

No tropical cyclone is expected to form or enter the Philippine area of responsibility on Saturday.
