Manila Water upgrades Luzon Avenue Treatment Plant to reinforce water safety for over 20,000 households

East Zone concessionaire Manila Water is conducting facility enhancements at its Luzon Avenue Treatment Plant (LTP) in Quezon City to improve environmental protection, operational efficiency and safety, and water quality standards reliability.

Costing over P78 million, the LTP upgrade project has already completed building a chemical storage room to ensure compliance with hazardous chemical handling protocols and the installation of an additional train to the Ultrafiltration Unit 5 that collects accurate data to maintain water safety standards for over 20,000 households in Quezon City.

Moreover, the LTP facility maintains environmental protection protocols with the completed installation of the improved bund wall surrounding the Chemical Enhanced Backwash (CEB) areas and Clean-in-Place (CIP) storage tanks. This enhancement will prevent potential spills and leakages.

To create a safer working environment for the workers, additional lighting and safety signage were installed.

Furthermore, strategically placed eyewash stations, emergency showers, and fire extinguishers bolster the facility’s preparedness for emergencies and prioritize personnel safety.

Ongoing additional upgrades, which are expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of this year, include the renovation of the Motor Control Center to streamline operational efficiency, augmentation of security features, and construction of an access road to improve traffic flow.
