Call center agent robbed, stabbed dead in Quezon City

MANILA, Philippines—A call center agent was stabbed to death and then pushed out of a bus by at least six robbers when he tried to fight them off inside a passenger bus early Sunday in Quezon City, a police report said.

Police Officer 3 Joselito Gagaza of the Quezon City Police District said the victim, identified as Juan Paolo Arizala, 28, a resident of Barangay (village) Bahay Toro, Project 8, Quezon City, died due to complications at a hospital hours later.

Witnesses told police they saw six men leave the bus after Arizala was thrown out at around 1:30 a.m., along the south-bound lane of EDSA in the area of Project 7.

The victim’s sister, Mariel, told police that her brother’s Sony-Ericsson Experia mobile phone and P15,000 were missing.

A witness, Dan Dino, an employee of the PTT gas station located at the corner of EDSA and Bansalangin street in Project 7, told police that he saw the victim fall out of a Don Mariano bus and then saw six men get off the same bus and run away.

One of the men was holding a fan knife.

Gagaza said the victim might have been robbed as he was trying to get off the bus. When the victim tried to fight off the robbers, he was stabbed and pushed out of the bus, the investigator said.
