Manila Water underscores the importance of regular desludging to maintain the efficiency of the waste management system at home. As a septic tank’s primary function is to collect household wastewater, neglecting regular septic tank maintenance can cause serious problems.

“Septic tanks are a vital part of our homes but often overlooked. The accumulation of waste can hinder proper functioning and cause sewage backups or overflows. Overflows can result to untreated sewage to pollute nearby soil, groundwater, and water bodies, disrupting ecosystems and marine life. Dirt, viruses, and bacteria from the sludge can also pose risks to human health,” says Jeric Sevilla, Manila Water Corporate Communication Affairs Group Director.
