CITY OF MEYCAUAYAN — Motorists were stranded Wednesday along the northbound and southbound lanes of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) in Valenzuela City due to floods caused by rains from Typhoon Carina and the southwest monsoon.
In an 8 a.m. advisory released by NLEX through its social media page, the expressway giant reported that the tail end of the traffic jam had reached the Balintawak area in Quezon City. The affected stretch of the expressway was not passable to all vehicles due to water buildup.
The Valenzuela section of the MacArthur Highway was flooded and impassable to all vehicles since dawn.
NLEX motorists began to be stranded around 7 a.m.

Metro Manila, Cavite, Bataan, Pampanga, and Laguna are under a red alert warning for heavy rainfall, according to the state weather bureau.
The Marilao and Meycauayan southbound entrances, and the Lawang Bato and Paso De Blas northbound entrances, were temporarily closed due to flooding.
The entry ramps of the NLEX Connector in España and the NLEX Connector in C3 were also not passable to Class 1 vehicles due to similar water buildup.
Floodwater is being pumped out by NLEX crew, but as of posting time, motorists remained stranded on the expressway. INQ
