Supreme Court suspends work in Metro Manila courts
MANILA, Philippines — The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday suspended work in all courts in Metro Manila due to inclement weather and flooding caused by Typhoon Carina.
“As authorized by Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo and considering the forecasted rainfall that is expected to be moderate to heavy due to the Southwest Monsoon and enhanced by Typhoon Carina, as reported by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, work is suspended for today, 24 July, 2024, in all courts and offices in the National Capital Judicial Region (NCJR),” read the notice signed by Court Administrator Raul B. Villanueva.
However, the Office of the Court Administrator (OCAD) reminded the courts and offices to remain accessible to lawyers, court users, and litigants through their hotline numbers and official email addresses.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has also suspended work on all courts in the following areas:
- All courts under the jurisdiction of Regional Trial Court (RTC) Batangas City
- RTC Balayan, Batangas
- RTC Branch 86, Taal, Batangas
- All courts in the Tagaytay Hall of Justice
- Municipal Circuit Trial Court (MCTC) Silang, Cavite
- MCTC Alfonso, Cavite
- All courts under the jurisdiction of RTC, Rosario Batangas
- All courts under the jurisdiction of RTC Lipa City, Batangas
- Municipal Trial Court in Cities (MTCC) Calamba City, Laguna
- MTCC Dasmariñas City, Cavite
- MTCC Gapan, Nueva Ecija
- All courts under the jurisdiction of RTC Santa Cruz, Laguna
- All courts under the jurisdiction of RTC Binangonan, Rizal
- MTCC San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan
- All courts in Trece Martires City, and Tanza, Cavite
- All courts under the jurisdiction of RTC Siniloan, Laguna
- MTCC San Fernando City, La Union starting 3 p.m.
- MTCC San Pablo City, Laguna, started at 12 p.m.

Typhoon Carina is enhancing the southwest monsoon, or “habagat,” which is forecast to trigger occasional rains in Metro Manila and many parts of Luzon, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.
