MANILA, Philippines — Education Secretary Sonny Angara has instructed the Department of Education (DepEd) to review and simplify the implementation of the Results-Based Performance Management System (RPMS) for public school teachers.
(We will form a task force that will study and simplify this requirement.)
“Klaro ang utos ng ating Civil Service Commission na kailangan ang mga ganitong klaseng evaluation process,” he added.
(The order of our Civil Service Commission is clear that these types of evaluation processes are needed.)
On Monday, Angara ordered the suspension of the RPMS for at least a month amid concerns raised by teachers.
He also signed a memorandum extending the deadline for the submission of SY 2023–2024 performance ratings.

The DepEd said the deadline for the performance review and evaluation was moved to Sept. 15 while the deadline for the performance rewarding and development planning was moved to Sept. 30.
The adjustment was aimed at avoiding possible grounds for disqualifications from monetary and non-monetary performance-related incentives.
