MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte on Thursday ruled out the possibility of accepting another cabinet position under the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., adding she will focus on her job as the vice president.

“Hindi na ako magse-serve in another cabinet post sa Marcos administration,” Duterte said in an ambush interview after the turnover ceremony at the headquarters of the Department of Education.

Duterte resigned as education secretary last June 19. She handed over the DepEd’s seal and flag to Education Secretary Sonny Angara during the ceremony.

Duterte also said she will focus on the projects of the Office of the Vice President like providing medical and burial assistance as well as giving legal assistance to teachers.

“Hindi na hati yung oras ko sa dalawang opisina,” she added

(My time will no longer be divided by two offices.)

Duterte also reiterated that her “relationship with President Marcos is okay.”

The Vice President earlier said she would not be attending Marcos’ State of the Nation Address on July 22, and named herself a “designated survivor.”

Her remark drew criticisms from lawmakers, saying it was a thinly veiled threat.
