PNP recommends dismissal of 572 personnel

PNP: 9 kidnapping cases so far this year

MANILA, Philippines — The Internal Affairs Service (IAS) of the Philippine National Police (PNP) has recommended the dismissal from service of 572 personnel due to various offenses, according to Inspector General Brigido Dulay.

Dulay on Wednesday said under the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the IAS has so far filed cases against 6,256 personnel from July 2022 to July 2024.

“Around 2,550 personnel are facing administrative penalties ranging from reprimand to withholding of privileges, suspension, demotion, and dismissal from the service,” the IAS official told reporters in a phone patch interview.

Of this figure, IAS already recommended the dismissal of 572 personnel, demotion of 260 personnel, and suspension of 1,418 police officers, he added.

The offenses committed by these personnel ranges from the following classifications:

Dulay said most of these personnel are non-commissioned officers and those with the rank of patrolman, sergeant, executive, and master sergeant.

Under the IAS, the highest-ranking officer penalized was a colonel, he added.
