No extension for Jadewell, says Mandaue City Hall

The Mandaue city government yesterday denied the request of Jadewell Parking Systems Corp. to reconsider the termination of their contract in towing vehicles of traffic violators in the city.

Mandaue City secretary to the mayor, Jamaal Calipayan, said that Mayor Jonas Cortes denied the company’s request.

The City Council approved a resolution that authorizes the city to announce in newspapers the suspension of the contract and also requested the traffic Team executive director Eutiquio Sanchez to remove the seal of the City of Mandaue from all Jadewell towing vehicles.

Jadewell operation manager Tomas Villanueva said 30 employees would lose their jobs and the city would lose its monthly P90,000 share from collected fees if the contract is scrapped.

Tan said they suspended their field operations for the safety of their employees as the “environment has become hostile” after the city announced the suspension of the towing operations.

Villanueva said that with the city’s “erratic” policy, Jadewell would be unable to recover its investment.

Villanueva said their office in barangay Ibabao-Estancia, Mandaue City, is open for those who want to claim their towed vehicles. /Correspondent Fe Marie D. Dumaboc
