Pagasa Tuesday weather forecast July 12, 2024

MANILA, Philippines — The low-pressure area (LPA) off Davao City and the southwest monsoon, or “habagat,” are expected to bring overcast skies and rainfall to several parts of the country on Tuesday, the state weather bureau said.

As of 3:00 a.m. Tuesday, the LPA was spotted some 310 kilometers east-northeast of Davao City, according to Rhea Torres, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) weather specialist.

“Itong low pressure area ay inaasahang makakaapekto sa silangang bahagi ng Mindanao, kaya asahan natin ang mga katamtaman hanggang sa paminsan-minsang malakas na ulan,” Torres said in an early morning bulletin.

(This low-pressure area is expected to affect the eastern parts of Mindanao so we should expect moderate to sometimes heavy rainfall.)

Torres said the Caraga, Davao regions and Eastern Visayas will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.

Similar conditions are forecast in Palawan due to the “habagat”, according to Torres.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with possible isolated rain showers and thunderstorms also due to the “habagat” are forecast in Metro Manila, Cavite, Batangas, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro in Luzon and BARRM (Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao), Soccsksargen (South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, and General Santos City), and Zamboanga Peninsula in Mindanao

“Samantalang sa nalalabing bahagi ng ating bansa, partikular sa Southern Luzon pati na rin sa silangang bahagi ng Mindanao, ay patuloy pa din ang epekto ng southwest monsoon,” Torres said.

(Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon will affect the rest of the country, particularly in Southern Luzon and the eastern part of Mindanao.)

Pagasa added that no gale warning was in effect for the country’s seaboards.
