Trillanes now with Aksyon Demokratiko
MANILA, Philippines — Former senator Antonio Trillanes IV has taken his oath with political party Aksyon Demokratiko, party officials confirmed on Monday.
In a statement, Aksyon Demokratiko said that Trillanes took his oath before party chairperson Ernest Ramel Jr.
Other members of the party were also present during the ceremony.
“Malugod naming tinataggap si dating senador, ‘Sonny’ Trillanes sa Aksyon Demokratiko (Aksyon). Isa sa mga adhikain ng Aksyon ay ang malinis, mahusay at mabilis na pamamahala sa lokal na pamahalaan na may tunay na pagmamalasakit sa mamamayan,” Ramel said.
(We wholeheartedly welcome former senator Sonny Trillanes to Aksyon Demokratiko. One of the goals of Aksyon is a clean, excellent, and efficient brand of local governance with true compassion for the people,” Ramel said.
“Naniniwala kami na katulad ng pangulo ng Aksyon Demokratiko na si former Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso, ay magiging mahusay na punong-bayan si dating senador, Sonny Trillanes,” he added.
(We believe that like the former president of Aksyon Demokratiko, former Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso, the former senator will be a good local chief executive.)
Trillanes has not confirmed what post he is running for in the 2025 midterm elections, but the former senator is rumored to be targeting Caloocan City’s mayoral post.

In the 2022 national elections, Trillanes, who ran under the campaign umbrella of former Vice President Leni Robredo, criticized Moreno’s actions.
According to Trillanes in October 2021, Moreno bared his true self as supposedly a supporter of former President Rodrigo Duterte when he criticized Robredo after she announced her presidential bid.

Robredo and Moreno were both gunning for the presidency but both ultimately lost to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. Before the elections, there were talks of a united slate between Robredo and Moreno, but it fell through.
