Quezon cops seize alleged pusher 'Ibon', P428,000 worth of 'shabu'

LUCENA CITY — Quezon police officers arrested an alleged drug trafficker and seized more than P428,000 worth of shabu (slang for crystal meth) in a buy-bust operation on Friday, July 12, in this city.

Quezon police chief Colonel Ledon Monte reported Saturday, July 13, that a team from the provincial police drug enforcement unit nabbed a 46-year-old man named “Ibon” for selling shabu worth P1,000 to an undercover agent in an early morning transaction held in Barangay (village) Ilayang Iyam.

Operatives caught the suspect in alleged possession of one plastic sachet containing crystal meth weighing 21 grams with an estimated Dangerous Drugs Board value of P142,800.

The police report, however, stated that the confiscated shabu is worth P428,40 in the street market at the prevailing price of P20,400 per gram.

Police are conducting further investigations to determine the source of the illegal drugs.

The suspect was detained and is facing complaints for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
