CFA eyes crucial win today

/ 06:26 AM May 19, 2012

THE CEBU Football Association (CFA) team hopes to win its final match in the Visayas eliminations of the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) Suzuki Cup U23 as they face the Negros Oriental Football Association (NORFA) today at the Aboitiz Sports Field in Subangdaku, Mandaue City.

If the University of San Jose Recoletos-manned CFA team wants to advance to the national finals, it must win today’s match so it can hold on to third place in the standings.

Only the top three teams in the regional eliminations will advance to the national finals.

CFA currently totes a win-draw-loss record of 2-1-4 equivalent to seven points while NORFA, manned by players from Dumaguete, has four points and a record of 1-1-4. A win by NORFA will put the team in level with CFA at third place.

NORFA has a chance to take over the third place if it wins its final game against Leyte on May 21. /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
