MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday warned the public against a scheme involving individuals impersonating a health official to solicit money.

According to the DOH’s advisory, the scammers pose as Health Human Resource Development Bureau (HHRDB) Director Johanna Banzon, using the numbers (0955) 7406258 and (0935) 7892114.

“The DOH clarifies that these cell phone numbers are not, in any way, associated with the HHRDB or with Director Banzon. Such transactions constitute fraud and are illegal,” the agency said.

It also warned the swindlers of criminal charges should the scheme persist.
