Territorial integrity has been a key issue under the term of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., as the administration has maintained sovereignty over disputed areas in the West Philippines Sea (WPS).

In his first State of the Nation Address (Sona), Marcos said the Philippines would not give up even an inch of its territory while he is president.

Romualdez thanked the PAF personnel for protecting the country’s territory with their patrols and “swift response to threats.”

“The bravery and gallantry of our air force personnel in protecting our territory and sovereign rights cannot be overstated. Your relentless patrols, swift responses to threats, and tireless efforts in various operations demonstrate a level of dedication and professionalism that serves as an inspiration to all Filipinos,” he said.

“Your actions are a vital line of defense against those who seek to undermine our nation’s peace and security,” he added.

The Speaker also assured the PAF that the President and Congress are looking after the welfare of Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) personnel.

“Recognizing the immense sacrifices you make, the administration has implemented various programs aimed at improving your living conditions, providing comprehensive health care, and ensuring that your families are well-supported. These measures are in place to ensure that you can perform your duties with peace of mind, knowing that your loved ones are taken care of,” he said.

“Rest assured, the administration and the Filipino people stand firmly behind you, ready to support and uplift you as you continue to protect and serve our country,” he added.
