30 barangay health workers now Tesda-certified

AT least 30 barangay health workers in Cebu City are now Tesda-certified after they graduated from the barangay health services (BHS) NC-II course at the Center for Healthcare Professions, Cebu Inc. (CHP Cebu), which is accredited with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda).

The CHP-Cebu is the first to offer the 560-hour course and training program in the Central Visayas region and the rest of the Visayas and Mindanao.

The course aims to professionalize and standardize community health services in the country.

The graduation ceremony, held at the Cebu City Social Hall, was hosted by media personality and former Banilad barangay captain Marilou Tabar.

Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama, in his inspirational message to the graduates, emphasized the need for good stewardship and protection of environment, and resources to manage and mitigate disasters.

After his talk, Rama performed a song number titled “How Did You Know” at the request of the crowd.

City Councilor Alvin Dizon also emphasized on the magna carta benefits for health workers, such as the health insurance.
