No DepEd OIC yet; VP Duterte’s resignation effective July 19 – Palace
MANILA, Philippines — No officer-in-charge has so far been appointed for the Department of Education (DepEd), Malacañang said on Thursday.
The Palace also reiterated that Vice President Sara Duterte’s resignation as education secretary will only be effective on July 19.
This means Duterte will still serve as the head of the department until her resignation becomes effective.
“Her resignation will be effective July 19. There is no OIC yet),” the Presidential Communications Office chief, Secretary Cheloy Garafil, told reporters in Filipino.
Duterte resigned on Wednesday as DepEd secretary and vice chair of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict.
