“I hereby tender my irrevocable resignation as Secretary of the Department of Education (DepEd) and Co-Vice Chairperson of the NTF-Elcac (National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict) effective 19 July 2024,” Duterte’s letter read as obtained from the DepEd.

With her resignation as DepEd chief, Duterte also effectively resigned as a member of Marcos’ cabinet.

“For a proper and orderly turn-over, I have prepared a 30-day transition plan for all the nine strands in the Central Office, as well as for the different Boards and Councils chaired by DepEd and SEAMEO (Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization),” she added.

Duterte, however, said she will remain “of service to the country” through the Office of the Vice President.

She then thanked Marcos for the opportunity to have served in his Cabinet.
