P1.1-M shabu, grenade seized from 5 persons in Rizal, Laguna

LUCENA CITY — Police anti-narcotics agents arrested early Thursday, June 20, five alleged drug traffickers and seized shabu (crystal meth) worth more than P1.1 million and a grenade in separate operations in Laguna and Rizal provinces.

The Region 4A police reported that members of the local drug enforcement unit in Teresa town held alias “Polo” during a buy-bust operation at 12:45 a.m. in Barangay May-Iba.

The suspect, a “high-value” target in the government’s drug war, yielded six plastic sachets containing shabu weighing 85 grams with an estimated Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) value of P578,000.

Police also confiscated a grenade and a motorcycle believed to have been used by the suspect in his illegal drug trade.

In Laguna, anti-illegal drug operatives in Calamba City nabbed “Sherwin” and “April” in a sting operation at 1:15 a.m. in Barangay 3.

The duo, also tagged as “high-value” suspects, was caught with five sachets of meth weighing 56 grams with a DDB value of P380,000.

In Sta. Rosa City, anti-narcotic agents arrested “Marlon” and “Charlie” while selling shabu to a poseur buyer inside a subdivision in Barangay Malitilit around 1:35 a.m.

The suspects, both identified drug pushers, had five sachets of shabu worth P170,000 and several drug paraphernalia.

Police also seized three mobile phones from the suspects, which will be checked for drug transactions.

All suspects are under police custody and face a complaint of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Polo will face another case for illegal possession of explosives.
