Pagasa: Warm Wednesday with rain showers nationwide

MANILA, Philippines — Warm weather and isolated rain showers due to the easterlies are expected nationwide on Wednesday, Independence Day, according to the state weather bureau.

“Inaasahan natin na medyo mainit pa rin ang mararanasan, habang sa hapon o sa gabi ay magkakakaroon tayo ng mga isolated rain showers and thunderstorms,” said Obet Badrina, weather specialist of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

(Warm weather is expected, with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.)

In the coming days, Badrina said the easterlies or the warm winds from the Pacific Ocean will remain the dominant weather system and not the southwest monsoon or “habagat”.

“Sa mga susunod na araw ay hindi natin inaasahan na lalakas ang hanging habagat kaya patuloy na isolated rain showers and thunderstorms ang mararanasan sa malaking bahagi ng ating kapuluan,” Badrina said.

(We don’t expect the southwest monsoon to intensify in the coming days so only isolated rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail in most parts of the country.)

No storm is being monitored in and around the Philippine area of responsibility as the low pressure area monitored off Agusan del Norte has dissipated, Pagasa reported.

No gale warning is in effect over any of the country’s seaboards, Pagasa added.
