MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Social Welfare (DSWD) warned the public on Tuesday against a fake Facebook page that is imitating its programs.
According to the DSWD, the AKAP Financial Assistance Program is not one of its Facebook pages.

“Ang AKAP Financial Assistance Program ay hindi kabilang sa opisyal na Facebook page ng DSWD at walang kaugnayan ito sa kagawaran,” the department clarified.
(The AKAP Financial Assistance Program is not included in the official Facebook page of the DSWD and it is not connected with the department.)
“Ginagamit nito ang programa ng ahensya nang walang pahintulot at naglalabas ng pekeng impormasyon tungkol dito,” it said.
(It uses the agency’s programs with no permission and it is releasing fake information about it.)
As of now, the page has 500 likes and more than 800 followers.
DSWD urged the public to report the page.
“Muli naming pinapaalala sa lahat na iwasan ang pagtangkilik sa mga fake pages tulad nito – https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61560078682690 – at hinihikayat namin ang publiko na agad i-report ang mga ito,” it added.

The DSWD also asked people to be careful of what they read online and to verify content first before engaging in any transaction based on bogus accounts.
