DSWD distributes P3.6M to victims of Typhoon Aghon

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said on Thursday that it has given more than P3.6 million to families who were affected by Typhoon Aghon (international name: Ewiniar).

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said on Thursday that it has given more than P3.6 million to families who were affected by Typhoon Aghon (international name: Ewiniar).

According to DSWD Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao, the department has distributed its assistance to five regions in Luzon and Visayas.

“The DSWD, through its field offices, already handed over assistance to the localities in CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol region, Western Visayas, and Eastern Visayas affected by the onslaught of the typhoon,” Dumlao said.

The DSWD said that more than 36,500 families, or more than 128,500 individuals were affected by the typhoon, and that around 650 families, or 2,320 individuals were in evacuation centers.

Dumlao added that the DSWD’s field offices (FO) are also distributing food.

“Our FOs are also continuously distributing family food packs to the affected families. On May 26, our FO V, together with the Provincial Social Welfare and Development of Albay provided hot meals to the stranded passengers in the different ports in the region,” Dumlao added.
