MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Energy (DOE) said on Wednesday that a price freeze on liquefied petrol gas and kerosene products is in effect over two areas in Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental.

This was due to the two areas being placed under a state of calamity after the eruption of the Kanlaon volcano on Monday.

“A State of Calamity (SOC) was raised in the entire city of Canlaon Province of Negros Oriental and Municipality of La Castellana, Negros Occidental due to volcanic eruption,” DOE said.

“Thus, price freeze for household Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) in cylinders (11 Kg and below) and kerosene products is now in effect and will remain valid for 15 days upon the declaration of the SOC,” it added.

The price freeze will run until June 18, DOE added.

The department likewise said that price increases are prohibited during the period, while price rollbacks will still take effect.
