Actress Claudine Barretto presented a completely different side of herself when she showed up in court yesterday to ask the judge to grant her and her husband, actor Raymart Santiago, protection against the Tulfo brothers.
In contrast to the feisty front she projected in the
YouTube video that showed her slugging away at journalist Ramon Tulfo alongside Santiago in the so-called “Thrilla in NAIA” May 6 incident, Barretto was in tears as she appeared before Judge Bayani Vargas of the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 219.
“I am begging you. Please hear our plea. Please grant our petition. We have two kids and they can hardly go out of the house,” she said in between sobs.
Earlier, the couple filed a writ of amparo, asking the court for protection from Tulfo’s younger brothers Raffy, Ben and Erwin for making threats against them in their television show “T3.”
Barretto told the court that she feared for her husband’s life, saying she did not know every time he stepped out of the house whether he would come home alive.
“I know the threats are serious. They are capable; they have a private army,” she added, referring to the Tulfos.
The judge, however, scheduled another hearing on the couple’s petition on Monday.
One of the brothers’ lawyers, Nelson Borja, meanwhile, said that he did not think there was a real threat against the couple.
