Poe: More motorcycle taxis will benefit public
MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Grace Poe on Wednesday welcomed the recent entry of newly accredited players for motorcycle (MC) taxis, stressing that healthy competition was always better for the riding public.
“This is exactly why we have always pushed for the legalization of MC taxis. With more competition, commuters have access to fast, affordable and convenient transport options, especially in traffic jams or harder-to-reach destinations,” said Poe, outgoing chair of the committee on public services.

She will be officially replaced on Monday by Sen. Raffy Tulfo, following the recent Senate shakeup.
Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Chair Teofilo Guadiz III earlier said they accredited four more transport network companies with 8,000 accredited riders in Regions 3 and 4.
Article continues after this advertisementThe LTFRB previously allowed Singaporean-owned Angkas, JoyRide and MoveIt to operate motorcycle taxis for six months starting in June 2019 on a pilot study basis.
Guadiz said the LTFRB would ensure a “comprehensive and inclusive evaluation of the motorcycle taxi pilot program by expanding its scope and participants.” —Tina G. Santos
