Some flights canceled on May 29 due to bad weather

MANILA, Philippines — Some flights were canceled on Wednesday due to unfavorable weather conditions, the Manila International Airport Authority said.

Below is the list of canceled flights as of 5 p.m. on May 29:

Philippine Airlines (PR)

  • PR 432 Manila-Narita
  • PR 408 Manila-Kansai

The state weather bureau, on the same day, declared the official start of the rainy season in the country.

“The occurrence of scattered rain showers, frequent thunderstorms, the passage of Typhoon Aghon, and the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) over the past few days have brought significant rains over the western sections of Luzon and Visayas signifies the start of the rainy season in the country,” it said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Typhoon Aghon (international name: Ewiniar) left the Philippine area of responsibility as of 3 in the afternoon.

However, the country will still experience unfavorable weather conditions brought by three weather systems.

Metro Manila, the Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi will have overcast skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms brought by a south-westerly wind flow.

Batanes and Babuyan Islands will also have the same weather conditions due to the frontal system.

The rest of the country, on the other hand, will have slightly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms brought by localized thunderstorms.
