Man kills wife’s pa, burns home
ANGERED over her refusal to reconcile with him, a construction worker stabbed his wife and his father-in-law at their home in sitio Private, barangay Mantalogon in Dalaguete town, southwestern Cebu, at 6:30 p.m. last Monday.
Police said the 33-year-old suspect identified as Rolando Plarisan also stands accused of burning down his wife Maricel’s family home not long after his attacks, one of which claimed her father’s life.
SPO2 Cleto Pia, deputy chief of the Dalaguete police, said Maricel and her parents arrived home at 6:30 p.m. and were about to eat dinner when a drunk Rolando entered the house and stabbed her with a knife.
The 28-year-old Maricel warned the others to watch out for Rolando and her 48-year-old father, Lucas Binarao, tried to pacify his son-in-law only to be stabbed in his left armpit.
Pia said Maricel’s 2-year-old nephew who was beside her sustained a slight wound on his left shoulders when Rolando attacked her.
Maricel and her 50-year-old mother Editha asked help from their neighbors and relatives.

The couple got married and lived in Guihulngan, Negros Oriental, for seven years and had five children.
Pia said the couple signed an agreement at the barangay hall in Guihulngan stating that Rolando will no longer maul Maricel or else a case will be filed against him.
Maricel moved back to her father’s home in Dalaguete town in 2010.
