State of calamity declared in flood-hit areas in Davao

DAVAO CITY – The Sangguniang Panlungsod late Wednesday declared a state of calamity in the villages in this city which were ravaged by Tuesday evening’s flood. Reports put 25 people dead and 15 others missing in these villages as of press time.

The declaration would allow the city government to use portions of a P51.5 million calamity fund to help the affected families in the villages of Matina Pangi, Matina Crossing, Matina Aplaya and Bangkal, Vice Mayor Rodrigo Duterte said.
