Pecandela, Paneros pace IBP basketball

THE Pecandela Law Firm routed winless Super Idolz, 63-38, to take the solo lead in the Top-Four division while Pañeros stayed on top of the Wild Card division after drubbing Primos, 68-55, last Saturday in the 2nd elimination round of the 8th IBP-2012 summer basketball tournament at the Capitol Parish gym.

Both teams tote 2-0 cards.

Pecandela was led by Sam Malazarte and Tommy Yu who had 16 and 14 points, respectively while Reiner Apolinario and Fermin Pepito paced Idolz with 14 and 13 markers.

In the other game of the Top-Four division, Bhutakalz stunned defending champion Los Demonyous, 81-78, to even their record at 1-1.

Rey Gealon’s lay-up gave Bhutakalz a one-point lead, 79-78 with 13 seconds remaining before sinking both his charity shots for the close win.

Benjo Santiago led Bhutakalz with 20 points while Van Ligutan and Ivans Verallo added 16 points apiece. Edward Bauzon paced Demonyous with 17 markers.

Earlier, in the Wild Card game, Pañeros led from start to finish to crush winless Primos with Ruel Juban and Michael Molde scoring 21 and 15 points, respectively, while John Gepolonga paced Primos with 15 markers.

Jodin also scored a, 60-48 upset of Eagles to even their records at 1-all.
