P1.6 million worth of shabu seized in QC

MANILA, Philippines — A 21-year-old man was arrested in Quezon City on Friday after yielding over P1.6 million worth of crystal meth, locally known as shabu, according to police.

In a report on Saturday, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) bared the arrest of Ricardo Dominique Del Mundo during a buy-bust operation conducted by operatives of the Project 6 Police Station and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Barangay Bahay Toro.

Their operation stemmed from a tip from a confidential informant detailing the illegal activities of the suspect.

QCPD said one of its operatives posed as a buyer and bought P5,000 worth of shabu from Del Mundo, which led to the latter’s arrest.

Confiscated from the suspect were approximately 240 grams of shabu worth P1,632,000, a bag, and the buy-bust money used for the operation.

Del Mundo is currently under police custody and will face complaints for violating the Republic Act 9165  or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
