MANILA, Philippines — The heat index reached a scorching and dangerous 50°C in Dagupan City, Pangasinan on Monday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Pagasa added that Central Bicol State University of Agriculture-Pili in Camarines Sur logged the second highest heat index at 48°C while three other areas –  Virac, Catanduanes, Sangley Point in Cavite, and Guiuan, Eastern Samar had a heat index of 47°C.

Forty other areas experienced a dangerous heat index  (42°C to 51°C), which Pagasa warned may likely cause heat cramps and exhaustion, while heat stroke is probable with continued heat or sun exposure.
