DINALUPIHAN, Bataan — A grass fire, believed to have been caused by extreme heat due to El Niño, has been raging since Friday night at the forested area of Mount Malasimbu in Dinalupihan, Bataan, an iconic mountain seen by motorists traveling to Subic Bay Freeport.
Dinalupihan Mayor German Santos told the Inquirer Saturday (May 4) that the fire started at 6 p.m. on Friday.
Santos still could not determine the extent of forest fire damage since firefighters have yet to reach the mountain range.
“It is so far and the fire truck could not immediately reach it,” said the mayor.
Santos also said no residents are living in the area.
