Fire hits building in Makati, affecting several food establishments

MANILA, Philippines — A fire broke out in the Vine Building in Makati City early morning on Friday, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said.

The fire that hit the building located on Don Pedro Street in Barangay Poblacion affected all the tenants, such as Onlypans Taqueria, NEO Cafe and Bar, Virtue and Vice, Sulok Bar, and Mahalo Acai.

According to the BFP, the blaze was reported at 1:12 a.m. and was raised to the first alarm four minutes later.

The fire was put under control at 1:56 a.m. and declared “out” at 2:23 a.m.

There was no fatality recorded, but one person, a male named Mark Nel Milo, sustained second-degree burns on the left arm, the BFP said.

Milo received first-aid treatment from the Poblacion Rescue team.

In an Instagram story from Onlypans Taqueria, it said that the fire started on the roof of the building.

“We’re pleading with everyone to please, please refrain from spreading any false rumors or assumptions. The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFO) is on the case, and they’re digging deep to uncover the root cause of the roof fire,” the caption of the post read.

“Again. To clear out the assumptions, it was an accident fire that blasted on the roof,” it added.
