MANILA, Philippines — The two police officers who were caught allegedly having sex inside a vehicle in a mall parking lot and their partners who are fellow police officers who confronted them were relieved of their posts, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Monday.
The PNP spokesperson, Col. Jean Fajardo, said the two complainants were put under restrictive custody at the holding unit of the Calabarzon Police Regional Office and the male officer shot by his spouse was put under hospital arrest.
“The two involved police officers have been relieved of their posts along with their partners,” Fajardo said in Filipino in a press briefing.
“Including the previous cases [adultery and concubinage], there’s an additional case of attempted homicide because the escaping police officers tried to run over their partners,” she added.
For the administrative cases, Fajardo said the issue constituted “grave misconduct” with “an imposable penalty of dismissal from service.”
Last April 25, the two police officers were caught by their police partners allegedly having sex inside a vehicle at a mall parking lot in Barangay Canlubang.
Investigators said the police officers wanted to confront their spouses, who, however, tried to flee aboard their vehicle.
The male complainant shot one of the vehicle’s tires, while the female complainant shot her husband.
According to the Laguna Police Provincial Office, only the male suspect, who sustained gunshot wounds on his leg and shoulder, was caught by officers who arrived at the scene.
He was brought to Global Medical Center Canlubang.
Meanwhile, the female suspect fled towards Batangas.
Fajardo said PNP had already talked to the woman’s family, informing them that she had been ordered transferred to the holding unit of the Calabarzon PRO, where she was expected to turn herself in.
