MANILA, Philippines — Eastern parts of Mindanao may experience rainy weather on Monday due to the cloud clusters brought by the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), according to the state weather bureau.

While the ITCZ affects parts of Mindanao, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said easterlies will continue to bring generally fair weather conditions over the rest of the country.

“Makikita natin itong papalapit na kaulapan sa silangang bahagi ng Mindanao, itong mga kaulapan na ito ay ang epekto ng ITCZ. Kaya sa nabanggit na lugar asahan natin ang mataas na tiyansa ng pag-ulan throughout the day,” weather specialist Daniel James Villamil said in a morning forecast.

(We can see that these cloud clusters in the eastern part of Mindanao are formed due to ITCZ. So, there’s a high chance of rain showers throughout the day in this area.)

“Ang nalalabing bahagi naman ng bansa kasama ang Metro Manila ay magpapatuloy itong generally fair weather conditions maliban na lang sa mga tiyansa ng isolated rain showers or localized thunderstorms,” he added.

(Generally fair weather will prevail with chances of isolated rain showers or localized thunderstorms for the rest of the country, including Metro Manila.)

Villamil said Pagasa has not monitored any low-pressure area that will likely enter the Philippine area of responsibility or form within the country’s boundary for the next few days.
