Philippine National Police Chief Gen. Rommel Marbil on Friday approved the recommendation of the Firearms and Explosives Office to revoke the license to own and possess firearms of fugitive preacher Apollo Quiboloy, according to PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo.

The revocation was based on Section 4 (g) of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act (Republic Act No. 10591) which prohibits the issuance of a firearms’ license to anyone convicted or is currently an accused in a pending criminal case for a crime that is punishable with a penalty of more than two years.

Quiboloy is charged before two courts of child abuse, sexual assault, trafficking, exploitation and discrimination. Fajardo said Quiboloy, who remains at large, has 19 firearms, adding that one of them already expired in March this year. —NESTOR CORRALES
